Service Description:
  • Receives and investigates allegations and complaints made by phone, mail, or email regarding First Nation, Inuit and Métis bodies and organizations, their employees and representatives
  • Allegations may include, for example:
    • the misuse or misappropriation of Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) funds
    • fraud
    • collusion
    • gross mismanagement
    • Complaints differ from allegations in that they involve actions or inactions which are potentially non-criminal in nature and may include, for example:
      • a First Nations on-reserve member who cannot obtain funding for house repairs or for post-secondary education and who believes the process was unfair

    • by phone, mail, or email

    • Directly to the Assessment and Investigation Branch at INAC headquarters in Gatineau, QC

    • to the Minister of Indigenous Services
    Eligibility / Target Population: Allegation or complaint can be from any source, including:

    • First Nation members

    • Métis

    • Inuit

    • Elected officials

    • Members of the public

    • Media
