Respite hours vary and can include overnight/weekend
Service Description: In-Home and Out-of-Home Respite
  • Provides funding to parents and caregivers to contract with someone outside of the immediate family to provide temporary support and care for their child or youth
  • Provides parents and caregivers with a break from the high level of support provided to their child or youth with a severe disability
  • Respite can take place in the family home, respite worker's home, or at social and recreational activities in the community

Autism Spectrum Disorder Respite
  • Provides a small amount of funding to parents every 3 months to purchase a few hours of respite care
  • Respite can take place in the child's home, at the respite worker's home or in the community



Fees: None - Parents utilize their funding to cover expenses associated with respite such as paying workers, participating in community activities, program fees, etc

Eligibility / Target Population: In-Home and Out of Home Respite

  • Families with children 17 years of age and younger, reside in the family home and have a diagnosis of a developmental, intellectual, and/or significant physical disability or severe, chronic medical condition

  • The child's high needs must impact their functioning in multiple activities of daily living at home, school and in the community and where there is a risk of family breakdown



Autism Spectrum Disorder Respite

  • Families with children 17 years of age and younger, reside in the family home and who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
