Service Description: Provides elementary and secondary education for students of all abilities

  • Offers secondary education for pregnant and single mothers to help them complete credits towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
  • Provides on-site daycare for those who qualify, for children 6 weeks-5 yrs of age
  • Breakfast program available for participants
  • Focuses on students' needs
  • Provides an encouraging atmosphere
  • Emphasizes ongoing parenting courses
  • Offers prenatal classes provided by Thunder Bay District Health Unit and the Maternity Centre

  • Fees: Program - Student -- provides access to college library, clinic and counselling ; Fee assistance available for Child Care ; assistance is provided by District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board, Ontario Works.
    Application:
    • Students must be referred by their current High School

    • Intake continuous but there can be a waiting list if day care is required
    Eligibility / Target Population:
    • Single and pregnant mothers under 21 years of age from the Lakehead District School Board area

    • Access to the program is available from other School Boards

    • Must be capable of obtaining credits towards a diploma
