Service Description:

A rural health care organization that includes the Atikokan General Hospital, Atikokan Family Health Team and Atikokan Community Counselling to provide a range of health care and community services to residents in the Town of Atikokan and surrounding areas in the Rainy River District
NOTE: Do not call the Atikokan General Hospital Emergency Department seeking medical advice. Due to legal reasons the emergency department staff are unable to provide advice or information over the telephone
Emergency room care
Provides diagnostic and treatment services for individuals who have acute life-threatening injuries or severe illnesses
Sexual Assault and Partner Abuse Care Program- Provides initial emergency care only with the patient's informed consent
- Provides follow-up services accessible through the Victim Treatment Centre (VTC) follow-up Nurse

- Recommended to have list of all medications

Eligibility / Target Population:

- Individuals in an emergency or life-threatening situation who require immediate medical attention
- Must have a valid Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) card, or medical insurance information if an individual lives outside of Ontario
