Service Description: Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of Slate Falls Nation

Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities
Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Community members conduct most business affairs in Sioux Lookout, about 1.5 hour drive S of Slate Falls but goods can be ordered/shipped into community by air
  • Hospital services available at Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre
  • Ontario First Nation Policing arrangements through Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service, Northwest Region; local phone: 807-737-5755
  • Child & Family services provided by Tikinagan Child & Family Services
  • Serviced by air through Bamaji Lake Airlines
  • Owns and operates a commercial fishing lodge
  • New water treatment plant built and opened in 2018
  • Administers education services and Bimaychikamah School for students from JK-Grade 8 under the Windigo Education Authority
  • Offers Bamaji Lake Economic Development Corporation
  • Provides health care and health programs at the Slate Falls Health Clinic/Nursing Station
  • Supports a community centre and two baseball diamonds
  • Organizes community events such as an annual fishing derby and National Aboriginal Day celebrations as well as after-school clubs and activities
