Service Description: Operates a community food bank in Atikokan

Food Bank is in the basement of the Voyageur Mall with preferred access through side entrance on Gorrie St

  • Provides non perishable food items (enough for 3 days) to individuals/families in an emergency situation
  • Provides a grocery store voucher for perishable items such as milk and eggs
  • Coordinates food bank with volunteer efforts from community members (operation of food bank, stocking shelves, garbage runs, setting up etc)
  • Donations of non perishable food items accepted in bin outside Food Bank and Atikokan Foodland
  • Cash donations accepted at TD Canada Trust Bank and Atikokan Foodland
  • Receipts issued for cash donations

  • Fees: None
    Application:
    • Initial household registration required; must include name, address, birthdate, phone and birthdates of individuals living in same household
    • Access is permitted once per month per household
    • Name, address and access date will be recorded with each visit
    • Foodland voucher varies with funds available that month; cannot be used for tobacco, pop, chips or candy
