Service Description: Designated Physiotherapy Clinic (DPC) providing government-funded services to those who may lack funding for physiotherapy services. Services are based on specific Ministry of Health criteria.

Functions as a physiotherapy clinic within the Golf Links Community Clinic on Golf Links Road

Functions as a rehabilitation clinic offering physiotherapy, massage therapy and other treatments
  • Health professionals assess and treat conditions that affect the muscles, nerves and bones that may be caused by work, sports, motor vehicle collision injuries, chronic conditions, or to recover after an operation (e.g. hip or knee surgery)
  • Therapy programs include:
    • Advanced Spine Care (McKenzie Method)
    • Advanced Orthopaedic Manual Therapy
    • Cardiac and Neurological Evaluations
    • Certified Medical Acupuncture Certified Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) Acupuncture
    • Electrical modalities (including ultrasound, transutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), laser therapies, and others)
    • Ergonomic evaluations
    • Orthotics
    • Soft Tissue and Fascial Release
    • Sports Training and Conditioning programs
    • Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Pain and Facial Pain
    • Ultrasound Bone Healing Technology
    • Vestibular (inner ear and balance) Rehabilitation
    • Work Conditioning programs

Fees: Service - for patients ineligible for the program; for services related to the Assistive Devices Program (ADP), and group therapy * None *

Eligibility - Population(s) Served: To qualify for the government-funded Designated Physiotherapy Clinic (DPC) program, patients must be:
  • Individuals requiring physiotherapy services that have been referred by a physician or nurse practitioner for an acute (new) change in their physical status
  • Must be insured under the Health Insurance Act and have a valid Ontario Health Card
  • Must be within one of the following categories:
    • Aged 65 or older
    • Aged 19 or younger
    • recently discharged as in inpatient of a hospital for conditions directly connected to the condition, illness or injury for which they were admitted
    • Eligible for Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) or the Ontario Works (OW) program

Note: Patients currently receiving physiotherapy funding under Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Accident insurance or other third party payers, and patients with chronic conditions that are unchanging are not considered eligible for this program.
