Seniors 65 years of age and older, social assistance recipients, or Trillium Drug Program clients can only receive assistance for lancets and/or a blood glucose meter. Blood testing strips are covered under the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) Program. Pens and needles or syringes are not covered.

Service Description: Provides financial assistance for blood monitoring supplies for individuals who use insulin or have gestational diabetes

Eligibility - Population(s) Served:
  • Must be an Ontario resident with a valid Ontario Health card
  • Must use insulin or have gestational diabetes
  • Must not be receiving any other financial assistance for the items being claimed

Eligible supplies
  • Blood testing strips and lancets - 75% reimbursement up to a maximum of $820/year
  • Blood glucose meters - 75% reimbursement up to a maximum of $75, once every 5 years
  • Talking blood glucose meters - 75% reimbursement up to a maximum of $300, once every 5 years
