Service Description: Provides services for and by people with disabilities in the Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario region, from Marathon to the Manitoba border

Located in the Glengowan Building on Donald St S near Brodie St S

  • Provides services for and by people with disabilities
  • Empowers individuals with a disability to take control of their resources by utilizing information, support, skills and choices available to them
  • Offers a cross-disability approach and therefore serve people with any form of self-disclosed disability

  • Focuses on the following 4 core programs:
    • Information and Networking
    • Peer Support and Interaction
    • Independent Living Skill Development
    • Research and Community Development

    Direct Funding
    • Provides a self-managed attendant care program for adults with physical
    • Assists people throughout NW Ontario in the application process for funding to self-manage their own attendant care services

    Healthy Choices
    • Focuses on education about food purchasing, food preparation and meal planning
    • Emphasizes on buying low cost, high nutrient value food
    • Facilitates cooking demonstrations to show participants how to prepare, handle and properly store food

    • Offers a disability education and awareness program that meets the requirements for employers/businesses under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
    • Assists community groups, businesses with proper etiquette for dealing with persons with disabilities
    • Provides employers information on The Duty To Accommodate as well as Accessibility Standards under the AODA
