Supports families in the District of Thunder Bay who must travel to a medical centre outside of Thunder Bay for their child
Provides the following programs and services:
Emergency Travel Provides financial assistance to parents for emergency travel required to accompany their child for out-of-town medical treatment
Northern Health Travel Grant Acts as third party for this program
Financial Assistance Provides financial assistance to families who have to be away from home for long periods of time while child receives medical care
Special Requests
  • Financial Assistance for special requests
  • Searches for further funding sources to assist families in need

Required documentation may include:
  • Verification of Appointment form or letter from physician
  • Copy of medical assessment or letter written on hospital letterhead verifying child's diagnosis, signed by medical professional or social worker
  • Verification of income or letter from employer confirming gross income
  • All original receipts for any travel or accommodation bookings
